FAQ

Here’s our frequently asked questions:

  1. Can I check in early?

This will be decided on a case by case basis. If we don’t have back to back rentals we don’t mind an early check in. If we have guests checking out the same day that you check in then we will need until 4 p.m to do the switchover of all of the linens and do a deep clean. We want it to be perfect for your stay.

  2. How many cars can I park in the driveway?

    Up to 9 cars.

  3. Where do I go to buy groceries?

Lakefield is the closest town and they have a big Foodland grocery store there. I would definitely recommend going to the bakery attached to canoe and paddle restaurant if you want fresh bread or something naughty like a fresh baked doughnut. There is a little shop in Lakefield called the Lakefield Pantry. They have fresh local foods and pantry goods as well.

The farmers market occurs in lakefield on Thursdays from 9 a.m - 1 p.m. There is a butcher in town called Flannagan’s for fresh meat. There is an LCBO and beer store in town too.

We do have a mini grocery store and LCBO at the end of our road called Woodview which is great if you forget something after doing your big shop. There are a few cottages on our road that sell fresh eggs daily from their chickens. You will see the signs.

You can also check McLean Berry Farm for fresh locally grown produce. https://mcleanberryfarm.com

On the weekends, there is a nice man named Joe at the Burleigh Falls who sells fresh seafood and fish that he drives to Eastern Canada (New Brunswick) but he only sells by the case.

  4. Are there any golf courses nearby?

The Wildfire Golf Club is a 13 minute drive from our Cabin. https://www.golfwildfire.com

  5. Are there water toys available for us to use?

Yes! Our boathouse houses an 11 foot paddle board, 2 kayaks, we have peddle boat in the water, a 16 foot long lily swimming pad, an inner tube, a child and an adult wakeboard lifejackets, and fishing equipment.

  6. What kind of fish can I catch on Stoney Lake?

Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Muskies, Rock Bass, Perch and Pickerel.

  7. Is there a spot to launch and park my boat/seadoos?

Yes! We have a dock available for you to park your boat and the closest public boat launch is at the Viamede Resort. Please note that the dock will be lifted at the end of November and not available again for use until the ice melts on the lake in early spring.

  8. Can I bring my dog?

Yes! We are a pet friendly Cabin as we know these furry friends are truly members of your family and we want them to relax and enjoy the vacation as well. Please note that we are not fully fenced in and so if your dog is a runner, they will need to be kept on a leash.

  9. What is the swimming situation like?

We have a deep, weed free, beautiful swimming water off at the end of the dock. It is about 15 feet deep off the end of the dock and about 40 feet deep in the middle of our bay. Note that there is a not really a gradual entryway for little ones so life jackets on and jumping in is the best way. We do have a public beach 2 minutes down our road with a sandy gradual entryway into the water if you want to enjoy a day at the beach.
